Interacting with newspersons here last evening, Alka said though she enjoyed singing songs in films for almost every actress, but rendering songs for to vivacious Madhuri and Juhi was special.
The talented singer was in the city for the shoot of a special Diwali episode of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'IL CHAMPS', a popular singing contest on ZEE TV.
The singer earlier in the day traversed through the sprawling Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus, where years ago, her maternal grand father Rajendra Lal Merc served as the head of the English Department and also visited Malviya Shishu Vihar -- a kindergarten on BHU campus -- where her mother Shubha had studied.
''UP is my maternal as well as paternal home, as my father and mother belong to Varanasi and Aligarh respectively. May be that is the reason why I have been singing songs in Bhojpuri films with ease,'' laughed Alka.
Ruling out doing run of the mill songs in future, the singer who has won numerous Filmfare awards said she was pinning her hopes on the success of J P Dutta's 'Umrao Jaan,' where she has rendered voice to former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, like Asha Bhonsle did for evergreen Rekha in the original classic directed by Muzaffar Ali.
''I would like to sing only meaty ones,'' she added. She also plans to come up with a flok music album.
