Take a hike up a mountain, battle nature in the forest and beat the heat in the desert - Can a smartphone really help you find enough to eat, drink and stay alive in these harsh, uninhabited terrains? British reality TV show, Stupid Man, Smart Phone, which won the Best Format Award at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival this year, is coming to India after traversing through Polland, Norway, Morocco, US and the UK, among other countries. Stupid Man, Smart Phone is a adventure reality series in association with BBC Worldwide Productions (India). The series will introduce audiences to a never seen before format in the history of Indian entertainment where the MOBILE PHONE is the ONLY means of survival.

While the original has writer-comedianactor Russell Kane playing the 'Stupid Man', who is air-dropped into treacherous terrains in every episode with a celebrity guest, Permanent Roommates breakout star Sumeet Vyas is set to step into his shoes for the desi version. Supermodel-turned-marathoner Milind Soman, TV hosts Mandira Bedi, Maniesh Paul and Bani J, and actors Evelyn Sharma and Rajeev Khandelwal are among the celebrity guests. Three of the eight contenders will make it for the final episodes.

Acclaimed theatre & Bollywood artist & India's first digital superstar − Sumeet Vyas, a pampered city-dweller will don the shoes of the host on this tough survival journey. With just one saviour - his smartphone, Sumeet along with a celebrity travel partner will be dropped into dense forests at the Tamil Nadu/Kerala border - armed only with internet access, a battery pack and some basic supplies for the first leg of this expedition.

Covering a spectrum of tasks that range from being bizarre to being emotional, Sumeet and his co survivor will be assigned a mission specific to the terrain. The only means to connect with the outside world is the smartphone and the power of social media. The duo will have to rely on the help received from their social media following for survival tips to get them out of tough situations that they encounter on these challenging trails.
