The filmmaker represents Indian Cinema at various levels from being a renowned filmmaker to owning the title of being the President of Film & Television Producers Guild of India and a trustee of the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI).
Siddharth Roy Kapur, addressed a session at Jio Mami last evening in the capacity of a trustee, the filmmaker shared insights into the evolution of cinema and audience at large.
Siddharth Roy Kapur said, "We have to give audiences a reason to come to the cinema. Either present them with a film like 'Baahubali' or a must watch in theatres like 'Dangal'. Or alternatively, deliver them with films that garner strong positive word of mouth, that would draw audiences to theatres. Then there are films like Pink, Neerja, and Kaahani, that in spite of being easily available on DVD's and online pull viewers to cinema halls owing to the post-release buzz. I think it's very important to create that type of cinema. A film today has to be great, being sweet and nice is not enough to draw footfalls."
Siddharth Roy Kapur has a long-standing relationship with Indian audience as the filmmaker has treated them with films like Rang De Basanti, Chennai Express, Barfi, Jodha Akhbar, Chillar Party, Kai Po Che and the latest in the list being Dangal which went on the become a record-breaking blockbuster.
The films helmed by Siddharth have gone out to become commercial hits which were widely appreciated by the masses.
