Bollywood has also capitalized on this sensational murder mystery. Two Bollywood movies were made on this case, Talvar and Rahasya.
Talvar is actually based on the 2008 Noida double murder case, in which a teenage girl and her family servant were found murdered, and her parents were convicted of the crime. The film stars Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neeraj Kabi and Sohum Shah in leading roles.
Rahasya revolves around the story of an 18-year-old girl, Ayesha Mahajan (Sakshi Sem), who is murdered in her own house. Her father Dr. Sachin Mahajan (Ashish Vidyarthi) is deemed the prime suspect for the murder.
CBI Officer Sunil Paraskar (Kay Kay Menon) picks up the case and soon finds evidence that makes it more difficult to determine who exactly is responsible for Ayesha's death. He investigates the role of Ayesha's father Dr. Sachin Mahajan (Ashish Vidyarthi), mother, Dr. Aarti Mahajan (Tisca Chopra), maid Remi (Ashwini Kalsekar) and determines the truth.
In 'Talvar' a proper research was done by the filmmaker Meghna Gulzar. She got in touch with Aarushi's parents and narrated their side of the story. At the time of filming and release of the movie both parents of Aarushi were lodged in jail and case was pending in Allahabad High Court.
Now after two years of release of the movie now the verdict of Allahabad Court is out and High Court has acquitted Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar. Is it by sheer fate that Talwars got acquitted or a public opinion taht gathered after these movies picked holes in the chargesheet of the police?
