Earlier there were reports about '2.0'that it will be released in April as some patchwork is still pending. But the sources close to Lyca production (2.0) rubbished the rumors and said that they are very much releasing the film on Republic Day.
Akshay who is part of both these films has now cleared the air. In an interview with Mid-Day, Akshay said, "There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day. Why would I clash with my own film? It will be either 'Padman' or '2.0'."
So Akshay putting all the anxieties of his fans to rest made it clear that there will be no clash. But the question is still unanswered that which film will shift its release date. On this Akshay said, "While 'Padman' is a film that I have produced, '2.0' belongs to Shankar, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide whether they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do, I will postpone 'Padman' and if they don't, I will go ahead."
So, it is clear now that there will be no clash between 'Padman' and '2.0' but which film will get the release, it's still a suspense. So let's wait and watch for the official statement.
