Megastar Amitabh Bachchan conferred with the 'Indian Film Personality of the Year Award' at the closing ceremony of 48th edition of IFFI 2017. The award was presented to the veteran star by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and Akshay Kumar. He was honoured for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Cinema.

Akshay Kumar took to stage and shared his experiences with Amitabh Bachchan. In his speech, Akshay described Amitabh Bachchan as 'Angry Young Man of India and his Superhero' her later went on to call Amitabh Bachchan as the father of Bollywood.

Amitabh Bachchan also expresses his gratitude after receiving the prestigious award. Thanking Smriti Irani Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "Thank you Smriti ji Hon Minister for Information & Broadcasting and the trouble you took in organising a most memorable evening for me .. one that I shall never forget .."


He also expressed his delight and wrote, "A most humbling evening at the IFFI awards .. honoured and filled with such gratefulness to IFFI and the extremely endearing words by Akshay Kumar, Karan, and the dignitaries .."

Akshay also shared a snippet of his speech on his Twitter account where he is describing Amitabh Bachchan as the Superhero of India. He wrote, "America has Batman, Spider-Man, Superman...but India and my superhero is our very own Angry Young Man, @SrBachchan Sir, rightly the Indian Personality of the Year ! #IFFI2017".
