Akshay loves to don a turban and has played the role of a Sikh in a number of movies. And almost all of his movies where he plays a Sikh gentleman have been super duper hits. Akshay Kumar is once again donning the turban and the makers have released the first look of Akshay Kumar from the film.

'Kesari' is beased on the famous Battle of Saragarhi which was fought in the rugged mountains of North-West Frontier Province 120 years ago, but it still continues to inspire countless soldiers across the world. It's an epic event of the bravery of 21 soldiers of 36th Sikhs (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment) pitted against 10,000 Pashtun Orakzai tribals in September 1897. The Sikhs, led by Havildar Ishar Singh, chose to fight to the death, in what is considered by some military historians as one of the history's greatest last-stands. And in all probability, Akshay Kumar would play the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in 'Kesari'.

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Akshay Kumar's Cape of Good Films are jointly producing the film and it is being directed by Anurag Singh. 'Kesari' is scheduled to release on Holi 2019.
