Shah Rukh Khan won the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum in Davos for his leadership in championing children's and women's rights in India.
The actor won the award as he is a founder of the non-profit Meer Foundation, which provides support to female victims of acid attacks and major burn injuries through medical treatment, legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support.
He has also been responsible for the creation of specialised children's hospital wards and has supported child care centres with free boarding for kids undergoing cancer treatment.
Congratulatory messages poured in from across the world, prominent politicians took to Twitter to applaud the actor for his good work.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu said, "One need not be a politician to be a great leader and lead the society towards a better tomorrow. Congratulations @iamsrk on being awarded @wef's 24th crystal award. Your dedicated efforts for Women's and Children's rights are commendable.".
Member of Rajya Sabha Rajeev Shukla took to Twitter to congratulate the actor saying,"Congrats to Shahrukh for getting Crystal Award at Davos True recognition at international lavel of an international artist @iamsrk".
Member of Lok Sabha Shashi Tharoor too lauded Shah Rukh Khan saying, "Congratulations @iamsrk , hailed as #DavosMan by @ishaantharoor".
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently gearing up for his upcoming film 'Zero'.
