Though the film opened to mixed reviews, critics and audiences loved the performances and unique storyline which indeed is a hero of the film. The film is about menstrual hygiene, which is still considered as taboo in many parts of our country.
The film opened to a decent start on Box-Office and minted 10.26 Cr on its opening day. The day saw some growth in the business and film collected 13.68 crores. Though we are still waiting for day 3 collections we are sure it will surpass the Saturday collection.

'Padman' is based on the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. It is produced by Mrs Funnybones Movies, SPE Films India, Kriarj Entertainment, Cape of Good Films and Hope Productions.
