Actor Farhan Akhtar has been successfully using the power of music to spread social awareness.

Farhan Akhtar has been doing concerts globally and spreading awareness on violence against women through his band Farhan Live.

Over the course of 5 years, Farhan Akhtar Live traveled to 150 cities which included Mauritius, Singapore, USA, Australia, Kenya, Middle East and the United Kingdom to promote awareness.

The tour included 72 college shows, 20 corporate shows, 51 Public shows, 3 Government shows, 5 private shows.

The actor has strongly been advocating the message that women's need to be respected through his  Mard Campaign.

Farhan Akhtar started MARD after his lawyer named Pallavi Purkayastha was sexually assaulted and then killed by her home watchman in August 2012.

Pallavi was a Mumbai-based lawyer who worked with Farhan Akhtar's production house, Excel Entertainment

In 2013 Farhan performed at a college concert in Bangalore wearing a t-shirt with MARD's logo and since has been performing regularly and spreading awareness.

Farhan has vowed to spread awareness about gender inequality and rape through social media via MARD, which stands for Men Against Rape and Discrimination.

The actor is also very vocal about the cause on social media and regularly voices his opinion on the issue.

Its indeed a great effort which Farhan Akhtar has undertaken since five years and hats off to his philanthropic effort.
