Director Aparnaa Singh honoured with National Award for the movie ‘Irada’

Aparnaa Singh's directorial movie 'Irada' released in the 2017 has bagged a National Award under the category 'Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation'. The film stars Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, Divya Dutta, Sharad Kelkar and Sagarika Ghatge in the pivotal role, the film has made a remarkable achievement at the 65th National Film Awards 2017.

The award was distributed by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind. Mrs. Smriti Irani, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Mr. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, facilitated the talented director.

Irada is an eye-opening film where the greed of human beings lead to polluting the environment including the groundwater and efforts to reverse the same. The film garnered the positive response from the critics and the audience.


Talented Aparnaa forayed into cinema as research head for the movie 'Black friday' progressing into writing. Aparnaa has critically written dialogues for 'shauraya' and co-written for 'Gulaal'. She has previously worked with Tarsem Singh for a Hollywood project 'the fall' and now as she debuts as a director, her experience and sensibilities can be seen from her first film. Getting a national award for her first directorial is truly remarkable!

Well, Aparnaa Singh has raised the bar with such a masterpiece and this National Award has indeed been the most deserved appreciation!
