Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai was on Monday questioned by the Customs officials here in connection
with a parcel containing 23000 Euros (around Rs 14 lakh) sent to her from the Netherlands.
To avoid the media, which had gathered outside the New Customs House in south Mumbai, the actress
was questioned at the domestic airport, sources in Customs department said.
The parcel, sent from Rotterdam in the Netherlands and marked to the actress, arrived at the Foreign Post
Office here around September end. Besides the currency, it also contained a top-brand shirt, a pair of
binoculars, a DVD player and other electronic items.
Aishwarya's father Krishnaraj Rai had met Customs officials on November 15 to clarify her position on the
issue.
Customs authorities had asked the actress to face the authorities to clarify her position on the parcel,
containing the currency.
