Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has launched a mobile game 'Baabul'.
The game is based on the soon to be released film 'Baabul' which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini,
Salman Khan, John Abraham and Rani Mukherji.
Two mobile games -- 'The garland' and ‘Shaadi ki
rasam' -- have been extracted from selected sequences in the film and inherit Indian traditions and values.
The games would be available across all leading cellular operators. The content will be available for
download through both SMS and WAP platforms.
Speaking to reporters at the J W Marriott hotel here yesterday Bachchan said, ''Today new technologies are
evolving everyday which are helping us to reach out to more and more people.''
''I am honoured to
be here at the launch of the game. We have to acknowledge and accept technology. It has been a long ride
since our times. It is futuristic and will make life more interesting,'' he added.
On 'Baabul', Bachchan said, ''In our society, a widow is looked upon as a curse, and not looked upon well
by the family. She cannot socialise and is not part of any ritual. Through the film, we are trying to
rehabilitate the young widow. It is a progressive film.
We need to grow beyond these norms. Even
on the filmsets today, women are doing jobs which were previously manned by men. It is a wonderful
thought.'' The film is slated for a release on December 8.
