Bollywood biggies Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Abhishek Bachchan had the chance to mingle with
royalty when the Malaysian king and queen graced the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) gala
here.
Royal couple Yang di-Pertuan Agong Syed Sirajuddin ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and
Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Fauziah Abdul Rashid attended the function Saturday night
along with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
The royal couple gave away the awards.
Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Amisha Patel were also present.
While Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" won the best film and best story award, Rakyesh
Omprakash Mehra's "Rang De Basanti", India's official entry for the Oscars this year, walked away with
eight trophies including best director, best supporting actress for Soha Ali Khan and best music for A.R.
Rahman.
It also won awards for best lyrics, best screenplay, best editing, best background score and best art
direction.
Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan bagged the best actor award for his role in sci-fi flick "Krrish" and
Bipasha Basu the best actress for her stupendous performance in Madhur Bhandarkar's
"Corporate".
Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan received special honours for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
Abhishek won the best supporting actor for Karan Johar's "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna".
Hindi film industry's superstar Shah Rukh didn't receive any award for his performance but got a special
award - most searched actor on the Internet - while Priyanka bagged the most searched actress
award.
Bollywood actors treated Malaysian fans to beautiful song and dance numbers at the event.
