Kabul Express takes a look at the lives of five individuals from different worlds who are linked by hate and fear, but brought together in Afghanistan - a country devastated by war.

The movie is set after the 9/11 incident in New York. It focuses on the American bombing which destroyed the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

It also shows Taliban soldiers trying to flea to Pakistan to avoid the wrath of the Afghan people.

Amid this turbulent backdrop, Jai (Arshad Warsi) and Suhel (Suhel Khan), two Indian television reporters in search of the ultimate news scoop arrive in Afganistan. Their aim is to interview a Talibani.

Helping them in their quest is Khyber (Hanif Hum Ghum), the all-in-one Afghan guide, translator and driver whose only means of transport is a Toyota jeep called Kabul Express.

The three of them embark on an adventure including being blindfolded and taken to secret hideouts to interview Taliban prisoners.

During the filming of a game of Buzkashi - rugby played on horses with a dead lamb - Jessica, an American journalist, saves them from being trampled by the horses and so a friendship strikes up between the four of them.

The twist in the thriller comes when they get kidnapped at gunpoint by Imran (Salman Shahid), a Taliban fugitive wanting to escape to the Pakistani border.

Imran is a Pakistani soldier who was part of the Taliban. He knows that as journalists, Jai and Suhel's movements in the country will not be questioned and posing as their local guide, he can reach the safety of his country.

From here on begins the two-day journey from Kabul to the volatile Afghan-Pakistan border.

Jai and Suhel's mission turns into a nightmare when they are taken hostage aboard the Kabul Express. They are forced to drive across the most dangerous terrain in Afganistan.

Meanwhile, seeing them driving away from Kabul, Jessica mistakenly thinks that they are onto a big story.

As she secretly follows them, Jessica herself gets involved in a bizarre situation and ends up being taken hostage by Imran.

But during their treacherous journey to the Pakistan border, they get stopped by dangerous armed bandits and witness an angry mob killing prisoners.

As tension mounts, a special relationship begins to develop between the Afghan driver, the Pakistani soldier, the two Indian journalists and the American woman.

Will Jai, Suhel and Jessica actually help Imran reach the border of Pakistan?

There is a surprise in store, which will shock the viewers as Kabul Express reaches its ultimate climax.

Kabul Express is the first Bollywood movie to be shot in Afganistan since the 1992 box office hit, Khuda Gawha.

It's been directed by Kabir Khan who is well known for making documentaries in this hostile country.
