The film received mixed reviews from critics and audience. On its first day the film had a sluggish opening but on the second and third day, the film witnessed growth and managed to collect ₹ 42. 55 crores on the Box-Office.

Manikarnika showcases the entire story and life of our country's first only female warrior queen Rani Laxmi Bai. Kangana Ranaut essayed the character of Rani Laxmi Bai.
The film also marked the big transition and Bollywood debut of TV sensation Ankita Lokhande who portrayed the character of Jhalkari Bai, queen's closest aide, and confidant in the film.
There's a stellar ensemble cast that includes Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope, Suresh Oberoi as Bajirao 2, and Danny Denzongpa as Ghulam Ghaus Khan among others.
