Close friends confirm that Nair tried hard to work out things with his parent child. It's now confirmed that Nair will be joining NDTV's soon-to-launch entertainment channel, not as an executive but as a partner of the channel.
Confirming the move, Nair said, "Yes I'm quitting Star. And obviously it won't be just another move on the same level. I need to grow as an individual and a professional. I need to become an entrepreneur now. But I'll always be in the entertainment business."
Ironically Nair's newst brain-child Kaun Banega Crorepati with Shah Rukh Khan goes on air today (Monday) when Nair's resignation has been made public. He is fully prepared to face the flak or the hosannas.
"I've worked on the show from scratch, and now I'm as nervous as hell. Not just me but everyone connected with KBC is holding their breath as to how we'll emerge from the experience. We've changed quite a lot of the format from earlier on. And of course there's Shah Rukh. It can't go wrong," asserts the man who saw tomorrow in KBC and the trio of TRP-towering soaps Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki.
