"It is true that with this latest development, we have to plan a completely different promotional and distribution strategy. Thankfully for us this development happened just a couple of months before our film released and considering that Shilpa is now a big star in the West, our release and publicity strategy will have to undergo lots of changes.
We are now planning a huge UK premiere for the film and we are going to go all out in terms of the number of invitations. Even the Indian release will be more lavish than we had planned. As far as overseas release is concerned, we will be increasing the prints by 30 per cent in the US and 50 per cent in the UK." says Vice President, UTV Motion Pictures, producers of the film, Ram Mirchandani.
"Promotions will also shoot up by 50 to 75 per cent in the overseas market. See, the budget will increase but it is not unreasonable considering we will also have an increase in the number of prints. And considering that we already have a huge distribution network with offices in LA, New York, London, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia, it will help us even more," he adds.
Director Anurag Basu is equally excited about Shilpa's newfound superstar status. "It is wonderful for all of us that she has won Big Brother and is now an international star. I don't think I will change anything in the script to suit her new image or her new global star status. We already have a very well-defined role for her where she plays Kay Kay's wife.
The fact that Metro is so realistic does not allow me to change anything about her character. I spoke to her last night. I guess she is loving all the attention – enjoying Z-security, helicopters over her house and the paparazzi hounding her."
