Often voted as India's sexiest movie star in polls, Abraham said he needed to take a call on whether to take the unconventional route to the top.
"Going by recent results, I'm tempted to feel I'm most comfortable with unconventional roles,'' he told a leading daily. "I want audiences to identify me with unconventional films.''
One of India's top models, Abraham made his debut three years ago. He has starred in several blockbuster movies since he struck fame in the 2004 action adventure "Dhoom.''
Abraham recently won praise for "Water'' that has been nominated in the foreign film category for the Oscars. In the film about the harsh treatment of Indian widows, he plays a law student who falls in love with a widow living in a home where others like her are sent by their families to live in social exile.
He also played a television journalist covering the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan in "Kabul Express'' that released last month.
"I know I have an audience and if I have faith in what I'm doing, so will they,'' Abraham was quoted as saying.
