After 'Wonderstruck', Todd Haynes is returning to the silver screen with a real life drama 'Dark Waters.' The movie stars Mark Ruffalo as Robert Bilott, a corporate defense attorney turned environment lawyer, who exposed corporate wrongdoings against the public.
Robert Billiot (Mark Ruffalo) reluctantly takes on the case of a family friend. As his investigation grows deeper, he finds out how his employers have been knowingly poisoning millions of people.
He soon uncovers the connection between a string of mysterious deaths and chemical company Du Pont, and fights to reveal the truth to the public. The class-action suit brought by Bilott against DuPont resulted in a payout of over $600 million in 2017.
'Dark Waters' is written by Matthew Michael Carnahan based on Nathaniel Rich's magazine article. Directed by Todd Haynes, it stars mark Ruffalo, Anne Hathway, Tim Robbins, Victor Garber, Mare Winningham, Bill Pullman, and Willian Jackson Harper.
'Dark Waters is scheduled for November 22, 2019 release.
