In the film, Sanjay Dutt is seen essaying the role of a politician who abides by his principals of real-life to earn the legacy. In the trailer, we see a snippet where Sanjay Dutt is talking to Ali Fazal and tells him that he (Ali Fazal) should be the one to take over his (Sanjay Dutt's) legacy because he deserves it. In actual life too Sanjay Dutt has faced such a scenario.
Sanjay Dutt's father who was a renowned actor himself did not give his son a break in the industry, he let Sanjay Dutt fend for himself by doing low-income jobs till he himself managed to get a break. Sanjay Dutt himself had wanted to follow this path to enter the film industry and with his current status, we surely say that the actor has successfully built a place for himself.
Thus, owing to the comparison of strictly abiding by one's principal to attain a certain position is this film extra special for the superstar.
Just like Kabir Singh which was a cult film, Prassthanam is also one with a mass appeal owing to its storyline. Interestingly, the director of the film of both the South Indian film and Hindi remake is the same i.e Deva Katta. It has been learned that the producers wanted to keep the authenticity intact with the Hindi version thus they bought in the same director.
Set in a contemporary political family in Lucknow, Prassthanam deals with complex questions on dharma, morality, desire, right and wrong.
The film also casts Jackie Shroff, Chunky Pandey, Satyajeet Dubey Manisha Koirala, and Amyra Dastur all of who play pivotal roles.
The film is produced by Sanjay Dutt's wife Maanayata Dutt. Prassthanam will hit the theatres on September 20, 2019.
