At a time when music directors in filmdom are entwined in maddening pursuit of churning out remixes by the day, one person who considers the practice of putting together this kind of ''assortment'' as ''unethical and unjust'' is singer-cum-composer Shibani Kashyap.

In a tete-a-tete with press, Shibani, who was in town for a musical evening, said: ''No remixes for me. I am dead against this practice of remixes. If ever I do remixes, they will be of my own songs and not of others.''

On being asked who are those who figure in her list of favourite singers, Shibani, who is determined to make her mark as a music director and composer one day, said,'' My favourite singers are Asha Bhonsle and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. I draw my inspiration from Ashaji.''

Shibani, who is a daughter of an army officer, has already lent her voice to two Bollywood actresses on screen -- Antra Mali and Lara Dutta in 'Mr Ya Miss' and 'Zinda' respectively -- but she wants to continue singing for more Bollywood films and is eager to sing for Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor one day.

''Rani is my favourite actor. And she has already proved her acting mettle to everyone who is worth his or her salt. I will definitely like to sing for her.''

''I am presently working on a new album and soon, say three months, I will be out with it. I am also redering songs for Amrit Sagar's upcoming film 1971 and Aditya Bhattacharya's Dubai Returns,'' a vibrant Shibani said.

Where does she see herself after eight to ten year from now, the young singer said she had already struggled a lot and she she saw this as an eternal process. '' For me, it is an unending journey which will go on and on. I have been singing ever since my childhood. It comes naturally to me.

But I find composing far more challenging than singing, and one day I will certainly like to see myself as a renowned music composer and director.'' Shibani is also often remembered for her song 'Sajna Aa Bhi Ja' from the movie 'Waisa Bhi Hota Hai 2'. She has also mesmerised her fans with songs like 'Kya Nazakat hai' and 'Hakim Tara Chand'.

Shibani Kashyap is in seventh heaven these days. And she has all the reasons to be so. For any artiste, getting nominated as the Best Upcoming Music Director in the forthcoming Stardust Awards that is to take place on February 18, is an honour in itself.

With her sensationalising song 'Zinda Hoon Main' from the movie Zinda she had the whole country dancing to her tunes. And now she has been nominated for the same among eminent music maestros in today's date like Atif Aslam, Mithun and others.

''It's so exhilarating to be nominated among those people who have produced such great music of which I myself am a fan of. And after all these years of hard work, it is finally beginning to pay off. I am glad people have liked and appreciated my music,'' an elated Shibani said.

When the entire country has juxtaposed mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan with superstar Shah Rukh Khan over 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' anchorship and is busy wrangling over who is better between the two, Shibani finds the comparison ''so very unjust and unfair''.

What is her take on KBC? Shibani said, ''See, the entire country is busy drawing parallels between SRK with Big B regarding KBC which is so very unfair and unjust. SRK is always under public scrutiny and a microscopic lens as long as the show continues.

His mannerisms, and even foibles, are being watched every second. This does not do anything except adding to his burden.''

''Every person has his or her unique style, so why compare them in the first place? SRK is doing his best and at his eloquent best, let him do what he is doing. Why compare him with anyone?'' she asked.

On being asked who is her favourite between the two, she, though caught in a cleft stick, came out with a candid reply, "Shah Rukh Khan is my favourite. If you ask my opinion, with due respect to Big B, I think SRK outstrips him in the show.''
