Preity Zinta to bring Spice in BSNL

In a bid to give itself a more energetic outlook and image, state-run BSNL is considering to rope in Bollywood actress Preity Zinta as its brand ambassador.

When contacted, the PSU sources said no agreement has been signed yet as the decision is still under process and the picture is likely to clear in next 10-15 days.

BSNL, with a subscriber base of over five crore, has off late been very aggressive in its marketing exercise in order to shed the typical PSU image and be seen as a lively brand for all categories of users.

The PSU has a little over three crore fixed line users and 2.44 crore mobile users. It has a market share of 22.13 per cent in the mobile segment.

Its arch rival Bharti has Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan as the brand ambassador, while regional brand Spice has Priyanka Chopra endorsing the handsets.

Bollywood couple Ajay Devgan and Kajol had once endorsed Tata Indicom brand.

Reliance Communications' CDMA brand of mobile services was once endorsed by cricketer Virender Sehwag.
