A popular action hero of the 1970 and '80s, Khanna, 60, turned to politics seven years ago and is currently a lawmaker representing the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.
He is now moonlighting as a movie star, having initiated his comeback with the role of a mafia boss in "Risk,'' a crime thriller which hit screens last month.
"I've done three tenures as a member of Parliament and I've done enough work for my constituency,'' he told Cine Blitz film magazine in its February issue. "Now, I guess my constituency can spare me.''
Khanna has completed the shooting of another action movie, "Godfather,'' scheduled to be released later this year. He has signed for four new movies.
"What excites me now is the challenge of the films that are made these days and I want to be part of all that,'' he told the magazine. "Also a lot of roles have been written for people of my age. So I can take on the job and do justice to it."
