Khan who plays the Big B's love interest in the film says, "Well Nishabd is another example of the way Bollywood is growing today. Even though it is an uncommon topic for films, in reality it happens so many times, the film in fact shows the repercussions of such a relationship. "
She stresses that the characters of Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Jia (Jiah Khan) share "pure love" in the film. When asked about the promos of the film that suggest the other way Jiah says its nothing 'but the power of editing'.
The nineteen year-old who was in the Capital recently for the promotion of the film, says she is more than satisfied in bagging the role that most young starlets can only dream of.
"Well one might want to make a debut in a romantic film, an emotional film or likewise but I would say that through 'Nishabd' Ram Gopal Verma gave me 6 different roles in one film, my character in the film is emotional, rebellious, romantic, extreme in emotions, independent, I couldn't have asked for more".
Khan says, she has always hoped for a career in Bollywood and that is why she learned acting in New York.
"The acting we were initially taught at school was method acting, acting based on the past experiences of life and that has helped me a lot here, the confidence I have is because of my acting school," she says.
Even though Khan has studied acting she maintains that doing so before Amitabh Bachchan was a completely different ball game.
"Once you are in front of such a seasoned actor as Amitabh Bachchan, you start from the beginning. "
Apart from acting Khan has actively involved herself in social service, but the medium has again been films. "I worked with Unicef films while I was in London, and worked in films that gave social messages, one film I remember working was on child marriage. "
Talking about the kind of roles she is being offered, Khan who has trained in six dance types says, "Though I am getting all kind of roles I want to do glamorous roles, which has a performance value as well. Most people take me as a westernised girl, but I would just like play an out and out Indian girl, Aishwarya's role in Guru was something I just would just love to do. "
Even though her stint in Bollywood has just begun, Jiah has a lot to say about the industry. The best thing according to her about Bollywood is its entertainment value.
"I see people here in India have so many reasons to be sad but they are not, this is simply amazing for me, the best thing about Bollywood is that it takes you into a different world, far from reality making you forget all your troubles for a while. "
