This year Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer film 'Gully Boy' was the official entry for the Oscars from India, the film's team and the cast of the film Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were very happy but the film failed to make in the top 10 shortlisted films.

Gully Boy was among the 91 films out of which the top 10 were to be selected for the finals, but the film, directed by Zoya Akhtar, has been dropped from the list. 'Gully Boy' narrates the story of a poor boy in the street who wants to become a rap artist and his hard work and dedication help him to fulfill his dreams.

Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raaz and many other actors were seen in the film. Significantly, no Indian film has won an Oscar till date. 'Mother India' (1958), 'Salaam Bombay' (1989) and 'Lagaan' (2001) were the only three films that managed to reach the top 5.
