Sivaji Produc-tions' Delhii Heights shows Rohit Roy romancing Neha Dhupia in quite the same fashion in the song Ey Gori, while their respective spouses Simone Singh and Jimmy Sheirgill look on disapprovingly.
The director Anand Kumar and Rohit however are quick to deny any similarities between the two songs. Says Kumar, "There is no connection between Rang Barse and Ey Gori.
It just so happens that Rohit plays a flirt in Delhii Heights. I gave my choreographer Vishnudeva the brief that Rohit is Jimmy's childhood friend and is flirting with his bhabhi (Neha). Vishnu came up with the rest of the concept. "Moreover",Kumar adds "Neha and Rohit's characters aren't having an affair."
The ad-filmmaker and music video director stresses that Rang Barse wasn't on his mind while writing the screenplay. "Jimmy and Neha's characters work in rival companies but get married.
Their professional rivalry brings disharmony to their personal lives. Many different relationships, including Rohit and Simone's and an elderly Sikh couple (Om Puri and Kamini Khanna), are dealt with in the film."
Says Vishnudeva, "The director told me that it's a Holi song where Rohit and Simone have a misunderstanding." Rohit Roy says he plays the quintessential ladies' man in the film.
"I am married to a beautiful woman (Simone), but I feel my days of playing the field are not over yet, so I flirt with other women occasionally. I am the typical cheesy Delhiite.
The worst thing is that I don't feel guilty about it. I've been told by a lot of people who have seen the song that Ey Gori reminds them of Silsila, but it's just a Holi song where a bit of flirting is required."
Ey Gori is being compared to the best Holi song, is a huge compliment."
