Placed against the backdrop of the Matheran mountains on the outskirts of Karjat, a town in Thane district, about 75 km from here, the studio's second anniversary saw industry bigwigs marking their presence at Wednesday's celebrations.
"The feather in our cap is the combined studio, Asia's longest floor (240/100/60), which has been divided into two with an internal acoustically sound-proof door of German technology," a proud Desai said.
Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, who was among the wide array of stars and other dignitaries blessing the anniversary bash, put it aptly when he said the studio stood on par with any of its counterparts abroad.
"Whenever we go abroad and return we rave about things we saw. But ND Studios will lead to a reversal of opinion among people who will visit it," Uddhav said.
The studio already has to its credit some of the top productions, including Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "Eklavya", Madhur Bhandarkar's "Traffic Signal" and Ashutosh Gowarikar's Hritik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai starrer epic "Akbar-Jodha", shot there.
It is almost self-sufficient, with an in-house temple, catering service, luxurious staying facilities, an art-house and other top-class features.
