Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Love Aaj Kal' was the talk of the town since its announcement. Everyone was curious as to how Imtiaz Ali would recreate the magic of his 2009 successful Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer of the same name. Kartik and Sara coming together for the first time on-screen had also spiked great expectations for the film. The couple had everyone excited as to what kind of chemistry they would bring on the screen. The film was much anticipated because of extensive promotions and the rumoured link-up between the duo.

The film opened to a great start with pocketing 12.40 crores on the first day despite all the mixed reviews. If the film continues at the same pace, it would recover its budget of 40 crores over the weekend. The Valentine's Day has helped the film rake in good moolah. It is speculated that the film might not gain any more momentum during the weekend as Ali has failed to create a plot that the masses relate to.
