She is ideal for the launch of my calendar," said contemporary choreographer Terence Lewis at the launch of his calendar Contradiction Unveil the mysteries in association with clothes brand Spykar yesterday.
Lewis having had choreographed for films like Jhankaar Beats, Lagaan, Naach and Shikhar besides many award shows, music videos and product launches justified using young girls and boys from his dance troupe Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company by saying that everyone has film stars on their calendars.
"I wanted youthful energy. We wanted to show real people hence real dancers."
Describing the calendar, veteran Ad-Man and Theatre personality Alyque Padamsee for whom Terence Lewis choreographed the exotic Evita said, "It's looking not only mind blowing but heart blowing.
" He also defended the use of unknown faces on the calendar by saying, "When dancers have got a good body then nothing can beat it. If a girl or a boy has a good body then with aesthetic qualities of Terry, it has to be a good shot. Terry has that little touch that turns something good to something superb."
Priyanka Chopra who came fashionably late by a couple of hours unveiled the eclectic calendar. But before that Terence Lewis' dance troupe put in a psychedelic performance with references to "forbidden fruit" and "Till death do us apart".
Young bodies moved around gracefully and in sync with each other. But if only the performance was better managed as the crowd welled into the hastily made stage that had no barricades. Moreover, the waiting media had to jostle around to get that ‘coveted byte' from Ms Chopra.
