Director: Rakesh Mehta

After the resounding success of his last release Daaka, Gippy Grewal is back again with another romantic-action-thriller and this time Bollywood actress Neha Sharma makes her Pollywood debut along with the Punjabi superstar. So let's see what's in the theatres for you!
Ik Sandhu Hunda Si is the story of a college student Sandhu (Grewal) who has a lot of pull in the campus. He and his friends are among the most respected and feared students in the college. A nice guy at heart, Sandhu's hand talks more than his words.
Another student gang in the college is lead by Kaala (Vikramjeet Virk), the arch-rival of Sandhu who also has supported on an MLA Jagga (Pawan Malhotra). Kaala and Jagga plan to win the upcoming student elections to increase their power and influence but their plans are thwarted by Sandhu who puts up his candidate in the elections.
Without romance, a perfect old love story can't be completed and thus comes in Sandhu's life a girl named Simran (Neha Sharma) and he falls in love. But the twist is Simran is the sister of Sandhu's rival Jagga and what follows in their love story is the base of the film.
On the content map, Rakesh Mehta's film is far away from the city of 'something new'. The film intended to focus on the world of student politics in Punjab showcasing ambitious young lads with an unquenchable thirst for power. But, instead, Mehta delivers an age-old masala film formula that we have seen numerous times in the 90's Bollywood films.
The film takes little time to move away from politics and become a tried and tested predictable love story of a bad boy who becomes a good boy for a girl. Ik Sandhu Hunda Si offers a lot of action followed by some more action and slow-motion fight sequences and in between some romance.
The performance front is handled by Gippy Grewal who makes up for a conventional hero saving the damsel in distress. His comic timing is great as always but sadly the comic part of his character is not explored much. Neha Sharma delivers a convincing performance but she doesn't get to do much here as the screenplay is lead by the men. Pawan Malhotra looks perfect as the power-hungry politician and Vikramjeet Virk steals the show as Sandhu's villainy arch-rival.
On the music front, B-Praak's 'Galib' is a sweet melody that you'll like for sure and the rest of the songs are just average.
Overall, Ik Sandhu Hunda si is another repetition of a tried and tested masala romantic-action entertainer disguised as a film about friendship. If you like masala films or are a fan of Gippy Grewal this one will live up to your expectations but if that's not the case then watch Sufna instead or again if you have already.
