1. Shikara (2020)
Based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits and what they faced during the time of Islamist insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir in the early 1900s, the movie takes us through the journey and the struggles of a Kashmiri Hindu couple as they try to survive in dire situations. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the movie starred debutants Aadil Khan and Sadia in the lead roles.

2. Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007)
Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Raima Sen, Jackie Shroff, Jimmy Sheirgill and Boman Irani, Eklavya revolved around how an old royal guard does his best to maintain the secrets of the royal family he serves, even though the royal dynasty no longer rules, and proves that his loyalty will always be with that family. Vidhu Vinod Chopra successfully showed the audience his versatile vision with this film.

Who can ever forget the rage Hrithik Roshan and Priety Zinta starrer created in the early 2000s with their chemistry and the beautiful song, Bumbro in Chopra's Mission Kashmir? The movie followed the journey of Altaaf Khan, whose family is murdered by police officers, and how, after getting adopted by the police chief, he sets out to seek revenge and becomes a terrorist.

4. 1942: A Love Story (1994)
Starring Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala, 1942: A Love Story has been a landmark film in the history of Hindu cinema. The film gives us a heart-wrenching story of Naren and Rajjo who fall in love with each other despite the political unrest created by the British Raj in the year 1942. From a narrative that speaks volumes even today to the songs like Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga that falls into the category of a classic, this film gave the audience everything they wanted and more.

5. Parinda (1989)
One of the greatest films of the '80s, Parinda brought together a crisp storyline along with beautiful nuances that made it a brilliant masterpiece. Following the story of two brothers who got caught up in the world of gang leaders and pay a heavy price to avenge the deaths of their loved ones, Vidhu Vinod Chopra made sure that this unique script translates aptly on the 70mm canvas. With this strong core theme and the added elements of romance, wonderful melodies and the bond of brotherhood, Parinda has found a place in the history books of cinema and rightly so.
