Remember Deepak Sawant, ex make-up man of Amitabh Bachchan, who made a Bhojpuri movie called ‘Ganga', which starred Amitabh himself. The very same man is ready to make a sequel of the movie and has named it ‘Gangotri'.
And not only that, he has also created a casting coup of the sorts by roping in our very own dicso-dancer Mithun Chakraborty to play the antagonist against Big B. Last time when the two were seen together on screen was in 1990 in the film ‘Agneepath'.
It has been sixteen years since then. Bhumika Chawla who made her entry into Bollywood through ‘Tere Naam', will also be a part of this film.
And if you think this is some kind of publicity stunt, then you are in for a shock because today Bhojpuri film industry has grown to gigantic proportions and can very well afford cost starts from Bollywood. Today, it's worth more than 100 crores and presently around 26 Bhojpuri films are released every year.
It is a booming industry, no doubt, proven by the fact that big names like Dilip Kumar, Saroj Khan,Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Raj Babbar, Rati Agnihotri, Ajay Devgan, Preeti Jhangiani, have taken interest in Bhojpuri films.
The fact that Bhojpuri films make easy money has driven such names from Bollywood to Bhojwood. A Bhojpuri film normally has a budget of 50-60 lakh where as a one crore movie is a big budge. The returns from the box office are also impressive.
Actors like Ravi Kissen, Manoj Tiwari (Mridul), Rinku Ghosh and also Nagma have become super-stars today.
Three cheers to ‘Bhojpuri filmwa'. - (SAMPURN)
