As 'Kittu Sab Janti Hai' wraps up, Ami Trivedi shares her experience of playing the protagonist and her biggest dream which remained unfulfilled.

Q: How did you react after getting the news that your show is going off-air?
A: I didn't believe it. Thought it was just a rumor. The show was doing very well but when I heard this from the senior members of my production team, I was literally in a state of shock.

Q: Have you had any word with the production house after that?
A: Not really, but it's already clear when everybody on the sets is talking about it.

Q: But wasn't it satisfying also as Kittu... has successfully completed its term?
A: In a way, yes. Actually we got a three months extension from the channel before. This shows that they needed the show as it was doing well. It was a very good feeling then, but I really wished Kittu... to go on for one – two years more.

Q: You have played the protagonist for a long time. Do you think now you will be considered for lead roles only by other producers now?
A: (Smiles) If this happens, I will feel honored. But I am even open to good and important character roles. Now-a-days we don't know when a character becomes more important than the protagonist. So, if I get those kinds of roles, I have no issues. I am open to good and quality work.

Q: So what next?
A: See, there are talks going on but I feel there is no point talking till things materialize. Let's wait and watch.

Q: What type of roles are you looking at?
A: Till now I was playing a middle class girl and that has made a perception that I will only fit in roles similar to that. I was so busy with Kittu that I didn't even get my pictures clicked and circulate them. I cannot define glamorous but like in ad films, which I am also looking forward to, they need glamorous faces and unless I don't have such pictures, I am not going to get work even in ad films.

Q: Recently there was news about a show being made on the lines of Baywatch which is looking for faces. Would you mind considering that offer if it happens?
A: (Laughs) If it comes on TV it will become Brain Watch. Tell me, if anybody wants to watch that kind of stuff, why won't they watch an English movie which will be more satisfying to them. However, doing that show is beyond my limit and it's a no from my side.

Q: While you were shooting for Kittu didn't you ever try to take up some other projects?
A: I was under an exclusivity contract with the channel. That stopped from taking up other shows. Secondly, I wanted to do ad films but as I said before I didn't have my pictures. But now I am going to do all that.

Q: Television has become quite uncertain these days. Will you become more proactive now?
A: It was always uncertain. When I signed Kittu, I didn't tell anything to anybody, even my friends, about it. I wanted the show to come on air and let people know. Now it is going off air and I will be doing the same.

Before too, I was prepared for any kind of situation. Who knows when your character will be killed or have a plastic surgery etc. You have to be constantly on your toes and since the beginning I have had that in my mind.

Q: Are they (the makers of Kittu) planning to sign you for some other show too?
A: Not,yet. But we have a very good relationship and I have developed a comfort level with them. If they happen to offer me anything, I will be very happy.

Q: Will you also try for films now? Any offers?
A: Yes, why not? There are lots of interesting things happening in Bollywood too. The only concern is that you hardly get roles without skin show which may cross my state of comfort and can be beyond my boundaries.

Q: What has 'Kittu Sab Janti Hai; taught you as a whole?
A: I have become more mature, more sensitive and grown up now. Previously, I was a shy girl, not open to the outside world and my mom used to handle all my matters. But eventually I started attending all my meetings and story sittings. Kittu has also made me financially independent and intelligent.

I have come to know how money is earned, so I think twice when it comes to spending money. Actually I would have fulfilled my biggest dream in life, had the show continued for another one or two years. I really wish to have my own house one day. - (SAMPURN)
