Bollywood actor and local girl Preity Zinta's mother today handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to Shimla Red Cross Society president, official sources said.

Ms Neelprabha Zinta, the actor's mother, handed over the cheque to Shimla Red Cross Society President and Shimla Deputy Commissioner Tarun Kapoor here.

Preity had announced to donate her part of Rs 25 lakh she had won in the special Holi episode of the Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) show of March 1.

Another Bollywood Actor Rani Mukherjee and Preity had won a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh by participating in the episode.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Neelprabha hoped that the money donated by her daughter would be utilised for the well being of the poor children.
