Akshay's films have suffered the most due to the shutdown of theatres in lockdown. First, his action-thriller flick 'Sooryavanshi' was postponed followed by 'Laxmi Bomb' which was set to release on May 22nd. Due to the huge budget of Sooryavanshi, it is not feasible to release it on digital. But that's not the case with Laxmmi Bomb so the makers have decided to release the film on Disney Plus Hotstar and have been sold the film at the record breaking price of 145 crores.
According to reports, after finishing the remaining post-production work of the film, the film will hit the shelves of Hotstar. Usually, the digital rights of big Bollywood flicks are sold for 60-70 crores. But Akshay's last three films have made more than 200 crores at the box office each and going by that even Laxmmi Bomb had that potential which helped the producers negotiate a great deal.
However, the film may take 2-3 months to arrive on Hotstar as first, the post-production work has to be completed and that is possible only once the lockdown is over. Directed by Raghav Lawrence, Laxmmi Bomb stars Kiara Advani in the lead role with Akshay Kumar and Tusshar Kapoor, Tarun Arora, Sharad Kelkar, Ashwini Kalsekar & Mir Servar in supporting roles.
