Talking about the song and the meaning behind it, Siddhant shares, `Dhoop` signifies a ray of hope, our saviour in these times. Everything that's been happening around us is quite stressful. There's sadness and misery everywhere. Every time I walk into my living room, my parents are watching the news and it's flooded with suffering and devastation all around the globe.
In the meantime, people on social media are quite active and trying to cope with these times by sharing their experiences, thoughts, hate comments, memes and primarily, workout videos. I admit that I did that too for a while. But then I realised nobody's able to look at the brighter side. I know there hardly is one but we need that silver lining, that sunshine, that ray of hope. So yeah, one day, I switched off my phone and sat on my window sill, hoping it shuts all the noise around me.`
Diving into details, Siddhant further speaks about how the song was originally writing as a poem. The actor adds, `Taking inspiration from nature, I penned down this poem `Dhoop`. It's about how the ray of sun is still doing its bit everyday... It's lonely, like us but that's not stopping the ray of sun. We all are confined in our spaces but we can still be doing so much! Creating, developing and still chasing our dreams. The clouds covering us are dark and heavy, but there's always Dhoop -the light we all need in life, we just have to look in the right direction.`
Siddhant also talks about the hidden meaning some of the lyrics and says, ``Safed si lagti hai ye dhoop` is specifically referring to all the doctors, nurses and the scientists. I also equate dhoop to all our front liners who are our real ray of hope.`
Siddhant on the work front will next be seen in Bunt Aur Babli 2 followed by Shakun Batra's next with Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday.
