Alia Bhatt to restart shooting 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' from July

'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is an upcoming Hindi film based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai' about Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura. The film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and stars Alia Bhatt in the title role.

As per the report by Box Office Worldwide, the shooting of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is expected to resume in July 2020 as the 30-day shooting of the film is left. The film is about the life of Gangubai Kathiawadi, a young girl sold into prostitution by her boyfriend Ramnik Lal, and how she becomes the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura. Produced by Bhansali and Jayntilal Gada, the movie also stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, and Shantanu Maheshwari. The film was set to release in theatres on 11 September 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
