In the film, she has played the role of a mute girl Sujata who belongs to an upper caste but falls in love with a Sufi. Their love is not accepted by society and Sujata's parents marry her off to a man of their choice. The film also stars Jayasurya and Dev Mohan in the lead roles, whereas Sufiyum Sujatayum is produced by Vijay Babu and has been written and directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas.
Aditi Rao Hydari got fame in the Bollywood with director Sudhir Mishra's 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' (2011) and also been a part of many films, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' (2018).
