Ninja's debut film was Pankaj Batra's "Channa Mereya" which was a remake of Marathi film 'Sairat' and it was really appreciated by the audience. He won a Filmfare award 'Best Debut Male' for this movie.

If talking about the music world, then also he won awards for two songs, 'Oh Kyu Ni Jan Sake' and 'Hawa De Warke' as a Best New Age Vocalist and Best playback singer respectively.
