Sometimes it happens that songs get famous, but the singer who lends his name to the song is in the shadows.

Similar is the case with Punjabi singer Labh Janjua who has rendered hits like Mundiya Tu Bach Ke Rahi (Boom), You and I ( Naksha) and Pappe Pyar Ke Pachtaya (Pyar Ke Side Effects) Apart from still not being a high profile name, Janjua who hails from Ludhiana, claims that a well organized London based syndicate has set up hoax websites in his name and is duping him of his royalty money.

"Five years ago I had recorded Mundiya Tu Bach Ke Rahi in England which also later had a remixed version. It was with a person called Punjabi emcee, who people thought was a music director but in actuality he is a music arranger.

This man plays games with any artist who records a song with him. He puts his name and photograph prominently on the covers whereas the artist's name is in fine prints, so people are unable to read it.

It was sung, written, composed and directed by me and this is the first international Punjabi song", informs the musician, before adding, "I got no credit for the song. In England there are many sites opened in my name.

What is happening is that my songs are being downloaded on those sites and thus they are taking away all my royalty. I have been facing a loss of crores. What is happening is that if people are sending me mails to do business with me, the mails are actually not reaching me but those thieves".

However Janjua claims that he has no problems with Jackie Shroff who included the song in his film Boom with due credit to him.

Janjua who is also the voice behind other hit songs like Chori Chori Chori Chori Dil Le Gayi (Garam Masala) and Rabba Khair Kare (Hattrick) says that he has David Dhawan's ‘Partner', Juhi Chawla's ‘Salaam India', Prakash Jha's ‘Love Story', Ram Gopal Verma's ‘Toss', and many more lined up which will help him to showcase his vocal talents.

The hoax website on Janjua's name came into being almost three years ago but he came to know about it only five months back. In fact he came to know of it rather accidentally, when he met a person who had been sending him letters since a long time and talked about the website in his name.

So how does he plan to fight back? "I will file a case against them because no one else has the right to open a website on another person's name.

It is illegal and the other crime is that you cannot upload someone else's work on the website. They do not have any copyright and it's a total case of fraud. We will trace those people and sue them. They have even put false interviews attributed to me. I must have received loads of commercial letters.

I want to inform people about it and will soon be opening a website site within a month. I have got no credit as a lyricist for the songs that I have written, so now I'm going to register my songs", he asserts.

The singer who has done shows internationally has also sung in Punjabi movies and released many Punjabi albums. He now plans not to stay out of the limelight any more.

"I have done many shows and have received good responses. I want to go to music launches and film launches, so that people know who the voice behind the super-hit songs is", he states. Looks like, this guy surely is one rebel with a cause. - Sneha Hazarika
