With movies like 'Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam', 'Lal Badshah' and 'Aaj Ka Arjun' to his credit, veteran film maker K.C. Bokadia had managed to shock the industry with his last
release – 'Bold' - a sleazy, Grade-C skin-flick, which managed to surpass all past-records of disastrous ventures in Bollywood.
And now what surprises us further is that Bokadia had his hopes pinned on the recently released 'Big Brother' starring Sunny Deol and Priyanka Chopra.
A source
close to Bokadia reveals, "Since last year he has been waiting to release his own film 'The Challenge' which stars Sunny Deol in the lead and was waiting for another Sunny
Deol starrer to do well so that he could cash in on the success by releasing his film soon after."
Keeping in mind the April-release of 'Big Brother', Bokadia had decided on releasing his 'The Challenge' during the same month. But now that 'Big Brother' has bombed at the
box office, it seems that Bokadia, who has been going through a severe financial crunch, will have to depend on the individual merit of his film.
Also, the release has been delayed because, as our source mentions, "KC still considers Sunny Deol as a superstar and was therefore demanding huge amounts from the
distributors". But Sunny Deol's market value has diminished significantly since none of his films post-Gadar Ek Prem Katha has done too well.
Interestingly, both 'Big Brother' and Bokadia's 'The Challenge' were in the making for the last 4 years. But Bokadia's son, Amit who is also the official producer of the film
clarifies, 'You know every Sunny Deol film takes the same duration to complete and as for our film, though it went on the floor 3 years back, the majority of it has been shot
recently.'
So, is the film going to release in recent times? Amit replies, 'Yeah, we are going to release the film on 18 th of next month."
The film, which stars Tabu opposite the Jat hero, will once again feature Deol in the role of a truck driver.
Obviously, K.C. is also trying to make the most of Sunny's last hit movie as well.
