Zoya Akhtar is quite fond of watching retro films & books and keeps on inspiring us by such stories. She made her directorial debut in Bollywood with 'Luck By Chance', a critically acclaimed film that met with a lukewarm response. She also assisted directors such as Mira Nair, Tony Gerber, and Dev Benegal, before turning into a writer-director. Amid the Coronavirus lockdown, Zoya is usually spending her quarantine while reading books and also sharing the same with her fans.

Zoya Akhtar shared a picture of 'Dark City: The Real Los Angeles Noir' book on Instagram and captioned it, "Is Anyone Archiving Us? #darkcity #losangelesnoir #visualhistory #underbelly #1920sto1950s #jimheimann #I❤️Books" check out her post here -

Dark City is a book that brings together images from archives, museums, newspaper photo morgues, private collections, and the author's extensive image library to reveal the true grit, grime, and sheer horror stories of Los Angeles from the 1920s to 1950s. On the work front, Zoya Akhtar last film was Gully Boy (2019) starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt which was based on the life of Mumbai rapper Divine & Naezy. On the other side, Zoya has also directed a short segment of Netflix`s anthology film `Ghost Stories`, along with Kashyap, Karan Johar, and Dibakar Banerjee.
