Rating: ***

Lootcase is about a lower-middle-class guy Nandan Kumar played by Kunal Kemmu who chances upon a bag full of cash which belongs to a wicked politician Patil (Gajraj Rao) who hires some not so best goons of the city to find the bag as it further belongs to another Politician. Nandan life changes overnight and turns it from a miserable one to a happy one with the new member (suitcase full of cash) of his family as now he can satisfy her nagging wife Lata (Rasika Duggal) and a demanding kid.

An innocent Nandan who has never seen such a huge pile of cash faces the dilemma of spending the money and resisting the news of this unexpected lottery to his wife who is suspicious about the sudden change in his behaviour. Now, what chaos this bag brings in Nandan's life when a police officer Kolte (Ranvir Shorey), Patil, and other goons pledge to find the missing bag aka Lootcase forms the rest of the story.

Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, the film presents the life and struggle of a lower-middle-class family man who barely makes ends meet and after getting rich suddenly doesn't know what to do with that money. The story has enough comic elements and drama to keep you hooked. One of the most interesting moments in the film is when Nandan starts talking with the bag for hours and gives it the name 'Aanand Petikar' and hugs it even in his dreams.

The writing is average and the screenplay too runs at a normal pace but it soon gets interesting and the second half gets even better. The editing is also fine and at 2 hours and 12 minutes and the film offers enough entertainment never making it feel sluggish or dragged.

Talking about the performances, Kunal Kemmu has given his best as a common man and has done justice to his role as the miser Nandan Kumar who is in love with a bag full of cash. Rasika Duggal as Nandan's wife Lata impresses the audience once again with her role of a strict wife who follows the moral principles in life.

The dialogues are not so impressive at some points in the film except for Kunal and Rasika's scenes together and Bala (Vijay Raaz) comes on screen who wants his goons to subscribe to Nat geo for learning the typical 'Shikari' sense just as animals. Gajrao Rao as Minister Patil once again entertains us with his performance after starring in 'Badhaai Ho' and 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan'. All the other characters have given their best part to support an average script.

The music is fine and goes well with the storyline. The songs' placement is also good and does not break the flow of the film.

Overall, Lootcase is a good situational comedy that offers an ample dose of laughter. Kunal Kemmu and Vijay Raaz are appreciable and Gajraj Rao is marvellous as always with good acting from the rest of the cast. The film is a nice and clean one time watch with your family if you are looking for one. Watch it on Disney Plus Hotstar.
