The handloom sector is one of the major symbols of the cultural heritage of India and with the motive of saving Indian heritage every year August 7th, is celebrated as National Handloom Day. On this special day, Bollywood celebrities also shared pictures of themselves wearing handloom sarees on social media. Fans are also loving their favourite star's traditional avatar and appraising the celebs for promoting Indian handlooms.

The 6th National Handloom Day is celebrated on August 7, 2020, across the country under the coordination of the Ministry of Textiles through Virtual Platform to avoid public gathering considering Covid-19 pandemic. The prime objective of holding the National Handloom Day is to highlight the contribution of handloom to the socio-economic development of the country and increase the income of the weavers.
