He was an Indian classical vocalist, belonging to the Mewati Gharana (musical apprenticeship lineage). His several classical and semi-classical vocals became famous albums and were used in film soundtracks. Jasraj mainly taught music in India, Canada, and the US, and some of his students became notable musicians such as violinist Kala Ramnath.
