Way before the trailer release of Abhishek Bachchan's 'The Big Bull', Sony Liv has already released the teaser of Hansal Mehta's web-series, 'Scam 1992 - The Harshad Mehta Story' on August 16th.
Harshad Mehta is getting two adaptations, one by Hansal Mehta's web-series and another one, Abhishek Bachchan starrer The Big Bull. It sounds so poetic to see Abhishek in Harshad`s role as the scammer is well-known as 'Amitabh Bachchan of the Stock Market'.
In December 2019, speaking about comparisons, Hansal Mehta told a leading daily that, `When they announced their film, we were already shooting. Our approach is different from theirs. I have been told that they've taken the outline of the story and created a work of fiction from it.` Hansel Mehta has said that his project sticks to Sucheta Dalal's book while Abhishek's film is a fictionalized version.
Set in the drop back of the 1980s and 1990s, the teaser begins with a hesitant man speaking to journalist Sucheta Dalal about a Rs 500 crores scam. When the journalist portrayed by Shreya Dhanwanthary asks if the man knows about the person behind the scam, he replies in a tense tone, `Harshad Mehta.` The teaser then showcases the stockbroker Harshad Mehta glimpse portrayed by actor Pratik Gandhi in the web series. Now, you must have a question in your mind, who the hell is Harshad Mehta? Well, before Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi, late Harshad Mehta, was the man who notoriously scammed the entire country with his stock manipulation scheme and eventually exposing the several loopholes in the Indian banking system.
