Up first is Kya Love Story Hai: It comes nearly four months after his last release and is an out-and–out romantic film. It's a simple love story that is targeted at the youth and family audiences. Add to that a 'different kind of treatment' and Tusshar promises us that we have a big hit to look forward too.
He says, "Off late we have not had the totally mushy, candy-floss romance stories – I mean, of course we have had our Salaam Namasteys and HumTums but I thought they were about a slightly more older and mature love. My film is more about young love which is all sweet and honey".
Co-starring Ayesha Takia and model-turned-actor debutante Karan Hukku, the film, which was shot in Cape Town, has been directed by Lovely Singh. Lovely had met Tusshar (and Kareena – she has done one song, titled 'Rocking', for this film) a few years back on the sets of Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai where he was working as Assistant Director and the two had hit off very well since then.
So, now you have Tusshar doing Lovely's film were he plays the character of Arjun- a graduate fresher- who has no desire to work, until in-comes Ayesha as Kajal to fill the void in Arjun's life with sweet-love.
Next in line is Shootout at Lokhandwala: The movie is based on a real-life shootout that happened in Mumbai in 1991, which involved the infamous Maya Dola gang. In the film, Tusshar plays the role of an important member of that gang.
After films like 'Golmaal' and 'Kya Love Story Hai', 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' will let audiences see Tusshar in a new-avataar and this what he is really excited about. "Playing the tapori-kind of role in a dark film allowed me to explore and experiment new avenues- you know, we will be shooting the tapori-song 'ganpat' in a bus through out the city," he adds enthusiastically.
Also, to be released this year is Priyadarshan's much-awaited Dhol: It is a comedy that simply deals with the antics of four nincompoops whose sole motive in life is to pursue women. Tusshar plays the role of Sam- one of the four fools, and Tanushree Dutta enacts the role of the lady he pursues.
In the pipeline as well, is Good Boy Bad Boy: Presented by Mukta Arts, it's a campus-musical. The story is based on the lives of two boys – one of whom is conventionally 'good' and the other is typically 'bad'- who befriend each other and eventually influence each other positively.
While Tusshar plays the titular 'good boy', Emraan Hashmi plays the proverbial 'bad boy'. Ashwini Chowdhury directs Himesh Reshamiyya provides the music score of the film.
Tusshar believes that "a lot of people will be coming to see this film because it's a light hearted, fun-film based on an interesting concept and ofcourse it is backed by Himesh's music which is very popular with the crowd in its own right".
Another film in progress is Agar: It is Anant Mahadevan's film and is a romantic-thriller in which Tusshar plays the lead role. He tells us that, " It is about a man who loses his mental balance because of a messed up love life and how he tries to get back on his feet".
Tusshar has also quickly jumped onto the sequel bandwagon with Golmaal 2 and Kya Hot Hain Hum: these are sequels to the hugely popular Golmaal and Kya Kool Hain Hum respectively.
Tusshar inform us, "shooting for Golmaal 2 will begin only at the end of the year and yes, I will once again playing the role of Lucky". Though the same people will be playing the same characters, it will ofcourse still be different from its prequel and there will be changes in the storyline as well.
The situation for Kya Hot Hain Hum is similar though Tusshar has not yet heard the script and efforts are on to bring together the original team. Tusshar assures us though, "I will still be the innocent one!"
This year definitely belongs to Tusshar Kapoor- not only does he have four releases, he will also be seen in wide variety of roles, enough to keep him and his fans happy and smiling. - (SAMPURN)
