Cast: Nani, Sudheer Babu, Aditi Rao Hydari, Nivetha Thomas, and Vennela Kishore.

Director: Mohana Krishna Indraganti

Rating: *** 1/2

Platform: Amazon Prime

The story of "V" starts with a riot in Hyderabad, on the occasion of Moharram, where DCP Aditya (Sudheer Babu) handles the situation smartly; for his brave actions, he is honoured with a gallantry award. Then a serial killer, Vishnu (Nani), kills a police officer and leaves a note for Aditya that reads, "DCP Aditya, I want you"; gives clue for his next murders and challenges Aditya to stop him. With this, starts a cat and mouse chase where murders keep happening and the clueless Aditya is not able to catch the culprit. A lot of questions strike in his mind like - Who is the killer? What is the reason behind these killings? Why does he keep challenging Aditya? To know all the answers, you need to watch the film.

As always Mohana Krishna Indraganti leaves his mark in various scenes of the film, especially when the killer (Nani) interacts with his co-travellers in the train/bus and threatens them. Besides this, the screenplay, as well as the cinematography of the film, is just amazing.

Nani is the soul of the film and his nemesis lifts the spirit of the film. The way he performs all the action is amazing, he has an outstanding screen presence, where he seems to be the most stylish antagonist.

Moreover, Sudheer Babu looks perfect in a police officer's role, and apart from his six-pack abs, his dialogue delivery, and expressions are just superb. The two beautiful lead actresses Nivetha Thomas and Aditi Rao Hydari have also done justice with their respective characters.

The first half of the film is very interesting and decent, but its graph goes down in the second half. After the interval, the film goes into a flashback mode and this is where the story becomes a bit slow and stretched; even a layman can understand and predict the motto of the killer. The second half would have been better if DCP Aditya had actually managed to solve Nani's background in his investigation.

There are four songs in the movie, out of which the two romantic tracks are quite dull. The renowned singers like Amit Trivedi, Shashaa Tirupati, Yazin Nizar, Shreya Ghoshal, Anurag Kulkarni, Nikita Gandhi, and Sharvi Yadav have given their voice to the various songs.

Overall, V is a revenge-drama, where a serial killer kills his enemies and challenges a famous top-cop to catch him. The typical cat and mouse set up is very common in various films but the two main actors, Sudheer Babu and Nani, are the main reason to watch this film.
