Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in the blockbuster hit 'Kabir Singh', grabbed the film 'Jersey' after the huge success of 'Kabir Singh'. 'Jersey' is a remake of the Telugu film of the same name in which Shahid will be playing the role of a cricketer.

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanur, the shooting of the film went on floors in December 2019. However, the shoot got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic in the country following the coronavirus. Now reportedly the makers of the film are about to wrap up the shoot till the end of September. Shahid will soon resume the cricket practice as some sports shots are yet to be taken.

The film was scheduled to release on 28th August 2020 but the date got postponed due to the closure of cinema halls following the lockdown in the country.

Jersey is about a story of a thirty-six-year-old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago, now aiming to play for the Indian team. Mrunal Thakur, who was last seen in 'Super 30' Along with Hritik Roshan, will be seen in the female lead opposite Shahid. This is the first time Shahid and Mrunal will be sharing the screen space together.
